Overview of the Project:

This house is designed in Transitional style which blends traditional with modern. We did a layering of family
heirlooms or memorable pieces with modern ones to create timeless interiors that tells their unique story.

The first floor is designed to bring together pieces from various design styles creating a singular design that
updates the classics with a cohesive, modern feel. It is the extension of the inhabitants’ personalities.

This home carries stories of generations and inspires all those who enter.

A home that celebrates India

A multigenerational family home by Amit and Ashmi Shah

This beautiful lift lobby sets the tone for the multi generational home which is a mix of modern, classic, eclectic, and postmodern. The Srinath Ji frame is a family heirloom refurbished to add to this entrance. The lobby is decorated with real and artificial plants. Plants add to the colour as well as add to the privacy of the home.

The custom upholstered sofas are complemented with beautiful artefacts. The architects mixed and matched artefacts from Luxurio and Room Therapy to enhance the look of this luxurious living room. The living space is dotted with greenery and accessories and various artefacts sourced from across the country by the architects.

The all-white pooja room with marble flooring is modelled after the traditional Thakur Ji haveli. The arches were created onsite and the rest of the temple was custom-made and installed by a specialist team from Sompura, Mumbai. The room has soft white cove light to make a serene and peaceful ambience. This temple also hosts a separate bedroom and restroom. The sliding doors which slide into a camouflaged pocket separate the pooja room from the living space adding the element of privacy.

This informal living room with a TV unit is a casual lounging space for the family. This vibrant space has sliding doors for a disturbance-free tv viewing experience. This space has colourful cushions, accents, several paintings, and picture frames which are flanked on walls. The artefacts and frames in this room have been hand-picked from various states in the country. A lot of greenery has been added to this space to make it vibrant. An 8 feet wide sliding door slides out of a camouflaged pocket to turn this living room into a private space.

The TV unit is done in Italian marble and the back wall in wood with profile lights has a concealed door.

A statement wall greets the visitors while climbing the stairs. The chandelier from The White Teak company adds to the colours. This
wall was conceptualized with help
of a graphic designer and converted into a 3D projection. All the pieces were separately made using CNC
cutting and added to a big
CNC-cut wall. Few of the paintings are hand-painted and few pieces are curated from different sources around the country.

This elegant master bedroom has light colours and a marble tiled wall with metal inlay and symmetric lights on either side of the bed. The beautiful floral rug from Jaipur Rugs adds colour to this room. The soft cushioned headboard and bed were custom-made at the site. This room also has a concealed door to the dressing room. The lighting of this room has been kept warm to add a
feel of luxury to the space.

Bathrooms are tastefully done in a combination of stone, spanish tiles, and luxury fittings. Well lit niches have been created to add to the theme and
look of the space.

The daughter’s bedroom has a bookshelf which is shaped like an upside-down question mark. This
room is done in shades of brown and
blue and has a camouflaged door to the dressing room on the panelled wall behind the bed. The bed and headboard were customized on-site. Colourful rug and pouffes add vibrance to this space.

The formal living room has a customized sofa in teal green and stone-topped centre table from Inhabit and a specially commissioned Srinath Ji pichwai frame from Udaipur. The centre table with a marble top is inlaid with a golden design to match the sofas. The beautiful rug from Jaipur Rugs completes the look of this spacious living room.

The living and dining areas are divided using a custom-made wicker partition from Inhabit and a console table with mirrors. It also has a green corner with plants and mixed and matched artefacts in various elements like metal, stone, and wood. It is a mixture of design elements, materials and styles, showcasing antiques, weathered glass, brass jail, and wicker.

The made-to-order 10-seater dining table with a quartz top in teal green by Inhabit is customized along with matching chairs. The crockery unit with a marble top was made on-site to complement the dining table. The wall behind the crockery unit is adorned with marble panelling on both sides and a colourful vibrant wallpaper from the Sabyasachi collection of Asian paints in the centre. The ethnic frame, symmetric lights on both sides and a collection of custom-curated artefacts create a rich and
luscious environment for a great dining experience. Fans from
Fanzart and chandelier light from The White Teak Company complement the theme and look of this dining area.

A partition made against the wall to accommodate the sliding door posed some challenges for the architects and they turned the challenges into an opportunity to create a beautiful wall with beading and adding colourful artefacts in the boxes. A custom-made wing chair with a stool was added to complete the look of this space.

The fabricated steps in Italian marble are lit up and also have a concealed storage space. The stairs also creatively mask a washbasin.

The stairs lead to a multipurpose lounge area cum study which also hosts a library. The study table with two wicker chairs and desk storage space is suitable for work-from-home or home study. This floor also has pooja room which is a creatively concealed by a door along the library. The custom choumohala wicker daybed from Inhabit is perfect for this casual lounge. This lounge opens to a home theatre cum party room which is again divided using pocket sliding doors. A pantry with a fridge and microwave on the side of the study table caters to the home theatre and entertainment lounge.

Son’s bedroom is made according to his choice of blue and oak wood with a lot of open space to display artefacts. The room also has a separate seating area around the window which doubles up as a reading corner with ample daylight from the window. Duco finish study table is creatively designed to accommodate artefacts as well as storage space. The lights highlight the pin board and add an aesthetic look to the table.

The parents’ room on 1st level is done elegantly with a custom-made bed and a huge upholstered headboard. The monotony of creams and browns is broken by the colourful cushions and floral rug. Concealed lights under the bed and spotlight add grace to the space. This room also has a concealed
door to the dressing room.

This balcony outside the home theatre and party area also serves as an entertainment area. This is divided into wooden flooring and artificial grass flooring areas. It has a casual vibe with folding and movable furniture. As this is right above the entry passage, this also has a separate entry that can be directly accessed through the lift.
