A room should feel collected, not decorated. In many ways, styling a space is like adding a soul to it. It reflects the personality of the people who inhabit the space. It’s a display of your most prized possessions or things/memories that you value. You might have a lot of cool stuff but if you don’t know how and where to put it, it takes away the charm of the place. Whether you live in a villa, an apartment, a studio, or even a tent, space styling can bring it alive and make it feel like your sanctuary. Styling a space is an art and in this edition, we feature Hyderabad’s very own space stylist Shaentelle Chapman whose work speaks for itself.

15 years as the Creative Director for Ellkram added with a sense of aesthetic, an eye for detailing, and a diligent drive for perfection is what I bring to the table as the Principal Stylist for Space Styling. My interest in art and architecture has, over the years, matured into an innate artistic sense, nurtured by my travels, which have expanded my horizons, allowing me to bring different styles and trends from all over the world to India. Most importantly, I do what I do because I love to do it.
With evolving times, the desire to be and live better has become man’s necessity. Often enough you feel the need to create a statement through space and for that you require someone skilled in the art of space styling to complete your vision and bring it to life.
When someone asks me, What Space Styling is? My answer is, that it starts with the Architect who creates the structure, then the interior designer gives shape to it and finally the space stylist styles it. By and large, we bring the soul into a space.
In 2017, I set up Space Styling, the first of its kind in Hyderabad. To date, I have undertaken a mixed bag of over fifty high-end projects; residential, retail, showrooms, offices and many more. Along the way, I have had the privilege to work with reputed Architects, Interior Designers, Construction Companies, Photographers, Retail Enterprises, Royalty and Celebrities.
In a world of compromise, I make none when it comes to styling spaces. From as little as 2000 square feet to as large as over a lakh square feet; big or small we do it all. My team and I make it our mission to bring every client’s vision alive and give them a space that belongs and feels whole to THEM.
Sky Villa
The client asked us to create a space of ultimate luxury in terms of space and style. Acknowledging the brief, we styled the space to Modern Luxury.
Our approach was to achieve a perfect balance between elegant and exquisite. Adding large carpets and wall art to the space made the rooms appear spacious. The dining room had been styled with ravishing shades of green and an Italian table scape.
Throws and cushions in bold colours were used in each bedroom based on the feel of the space. The wardrobes were organized to meet the needs of both the man and woman of the home. A majority of the interiors of the space were round and curved, with similar styling elements complementing one another. It portrayed the modern style and gave way to a welcoming atmosphere.
DSR
The client’s brief was to transform the space into a high-end business lounge. Based on the functionality of the space, we envisioned and styled it as Art Deco.
Wooden wall claddings and window ledges were incorporated into the interior design to make the space appear spacious. Adding shades of grey, brown, and blue, as well as tall flora and a coffee table, the styling provided a splendid and luscious environment for their clients to interact.
